The English pea, also referred to as the garden pea, is the most commonly known green pea. It is a legume from the Fabaceae family. Its pod is larger than that of both Chinese and sugar snap varieties containing rounded peas inside.

Origin

They are believed to have originated from Asia. However, in the 17th century, new varieties were developed in England which led to them being called English peas.
