The small corn ears are sweet and tender and they have a yellow color. The miniature corn is ideal for use in salads, preserves or grilled dishes with a touch of sweetness. Unless they are being grilled, the husk and silks are removed before cooking. They can be consumed cooked or raw and are very common in Asian cuisine.

Culture

There are many summer festivals dedicated to celebrating all corn varieties, including Baby Corn. The Grundy County Corn Festival is one such celebration and it brings together farmers, locals and tourists. It takes place after the September harvest in Morris, IL. The festival is a last a week and is full of activities that the local public can participate in such as: talent shows, karaoke, photo shows, corn shows and of course lots of food to try. Another well-known festival is the Eden Corn Festival which takes place in the town of Eden, NY.

Origin

It is estimated that corn is over 4.000 years old and has its origin in Central America area, specially in Mexico where is very rooted in its cultura.
