LONGAN

Longan belongs to the same family as lychee, but the fruits are different. The name of this fruit means “dragon eye”. Longan tree bears fruits in clusters, round and small. Longans have a thin skin and once peeled, inside there is a fruit with whitish and tasty flesh, similar to a peeled grape.

Origin

The fruit is originally from East India. Later started to be cultivated in the rest of Asia, especially in China, where its nuts are highly appreciated.
