LYCHEE

This exotic fruit belongs to the family of Sapindaceae. The outer skin is rough and its color is between pink and red. Inside, there is a sweet portion of white and translucent flesh, similar to grapes. This fruit is better known as the Chinese cherry.

In the city of Kaohsiung(Taiwan), takes place every year the Pineapple and Lychee Festival, where visitors can enjoy the “Lychee beer”. This tropical fruit is also known as the Chinese strawberry because of its origin and shape.

Origin

Lychee is originally from the South of China, South of Indonesia and East of Philippines. Nowadays it is also cultivated in other countries from subtropical regions and Florida.
