Jamaican Tangelo, despite its appearance, has an incredible sweet flavor. It is a fruit belonging to the citrus family. It is believed to be a hybrid of tangerine and grapefruit. Their skin in greenish and inside is like an orange.

Jamaican Tangelo can be eaten fresh with a bit of sugar over the two halves, leaving it to sit for one or two minutes before serving. Goes well with the avocado, sweet onion, grapes, bananas or strawberries. The grated peel can be used as flavor enhancer. A refreshing cocktail may include the juice of this fruit with Scotch whisky, lemon juice and vanilla syrup. May maintain its properties for three weeks if is conserved in the refrigerator.

Culture

Ugli fruit was patented by an American company from Florida, thus becoming its generic name. Even though its outside appearance does not make it appealing, this is a citrus fruit with a mixed flavor between tangerine and grapefruit. The main reason why ugli fruit was given its name is because a ploy to stimulate interest in the marketplace.
